New Traditional Style – Darryl Carter

Interior Designer Darryl Carter (www.DarrylCarter.com ) devoted an entire book to the concept of new traditional, and has thus sparked a design revolution. Gone are the days of defining traditional as simply matching furniture sets, heavy layers of window treatments, plenty of accessories and lots of patterns. Traditional, as we know it, has evolved to include restrained, yet distinguished, completely livable environments. It is mixing the modern with the classical to create a truly timeless aesthetic. Think wing chairs in lieu of dining chairs, a traditional design in a modern finish, patinated furniture, antique cabinets that hold media equipment – and above all freedom to mix finishes and periods. It is all about blending modern elements and classic antiques against a neutral backdrop.
