August 31st, 2011

It goes without saying that at Styleture, we love kitchens. We have a passion for amenities such as kitchen sinks that evoke a sense of time and place; and no sinks do a better job of that than farmhouse sinks. For those of you who don’t already know, a farmhouse sink (aka apron front sink) typically has one large bowl with an exposed front panel. It works especially well with a kitchen designed in a classic country style décor, however there are no hard and fast rules in regards to the environment in which they can be utilized. We’ve been keeping a keen eye peeled for the farmhouse sinks that we feel are of impeccable design and quality, and now we’d like to share our five favorite ones with you:

Utility Sink

For most homeowners, the last room of the house to get any love and attention when it comes to design and functionality is the laundry room. Beyond a functioning washer and dryer, the design elements and amenities are usually about as bare-bones as you can get. But the fact is, the modernized laundry room, with well-designed appliances and fixtures, is increasingly becoming a feature of the modern home. Aside from being easier and more pleasurable to use, well-designed laundry rooms can also increase the total value of the home.

Incorporating top of the line, high-efficiency washers and dryers by reputable name manufacturers like Kenmore and LG are obvious appliance choices to bring modernism and good functionality to the laundry room. But what about incorporating updated fixtures like the laundry sink and the faucet, which are typically some of the most outdated and least-replaced items in the home? And how about laying down some quality tiles in a room that often has unfinished concrete floors, or worse, cheap peel-n-press linoleum? These are definitely important aspects of a well-designed laundry room and there are a couple of manufacturers whose products can facilitate the desired, modernized effect:

Guest Bathroom Do’s & Don’ts

December 16th, 2010

It’s a fact: the master bath is yours to do with whatever you want. You can outfit it in gaudy faucets, cheap peel-and-press linoleum tiles, and even put up wallpaper with images of clowns on unicycles. But with your guest bathroom, it’s an entirely different story. You have the responsibility of honoring your overnight guest, presumably whom you respect, who has been invited into your home. You want the guest bathroom to be at the least, hospitable, and at the most, a luxurious experience that will let your guest know how much you care. Don’t make the same mistakes that other hosts have made – use this Do’s & Don’ts list as a jumpstart for properly outfitting the guest bathroom and you will be well on your way to being awarded with the “Best Guest Bathroom of the Year” honor – if there is such a thing.

DO install a sink with good design and functionality. LAUFEN’s MyLife Washbasin Bowl offers angular contours and unique character without taking up valuable space. Its striking features convey a sense of beauty and harmony that is unsurpassed.
