Sneak Peak of the Design for the Oscar’s Green Room
March 1st, 2010Since the public generally does not get to see where Oscar hosts and honorees rehearse and celebrate backstage on Awards night, we’ve got a preview for you! For the eighth year in a row, Architectural Digest assigns an interior designer to build a dazzling, comfortable Greenroom at the Kodak Theater.
Architectural Digest has awarded the honor of designing this room to designer Roger Thomas who will be in charge of creating the design of the Architectural Digest Greenroom.
This is the eighth consecutive year that Architectural Digest will produce the exclusive backstage lounge for the Oscar® presenters and honorees, and this year the design will will come alive backstage with the sparkle and romance of legendary Hollywood. The guests will be able to relax, rehearse and revel, Golden Era-style.
Thomas celebrates a time when developments in sound, color, genre and dialogue heightened the cinema experience. He amplifies a black and white room with varying shades in between—platinum, blonde and silver—and creates light and movement with reflective materials such as glass objects, metal occasional tables and mirrored walls that were popular interior design elements of the period.
