There is no denying the circle’s place in history – everyone knows that the invention of the wheel literally moved human evolution forward from its previous position of walking while carrying objects. As a design element, the circle signifies many things; completion, wholeness – even spirituality. In architecture, the circle really provides the most economical form of shelter. Round houses are used in the Arctic and at the equator. Whether it’s for comfort, for economy, for children’s cartoon characters, or to illustrate that star above we call the sun, circles are an intriguing and surprisingly delightful shape when used in design.

The best designs in architecture and product design seem to be born of ideas that are seemingly familiar, yet at the same time bring you somewhere new and exciting. When designing contemporary faucets or fixtures, the temptation is to look at what has come before and simply improve upon that design. That’s not the way the designers from GRAFF® think about design. With the Fontaine and Stealth Collections, it’s as if the designers took ‘walk-abouts’ through the concrete and steel jungles of various cities and eras and filtered out the noise to come up with a line of sculptural gems. Reminiscent of skylines and deco skyscrapers, these odes to brick and steel are architectural wonders. Used in high-end bath settings, they produce a singular skyline silhouette of their own. Swooping, sweeping, glamorous, contemporary, elegant – need we go on?
