Slice Chair – Innovative Design

September 30th, 2009

Have you ever been looking for a chair that doubled as a piece of functional art? Or are you like me and love the comfort of a footrest or ottoman, but hate the way its looks and clutters up a space? In these cases this wooden slice chair – available on GrayPants.com – is the perfect fit.

This handcrafted chair uses sturdy sheets of plywood to transform two geometric forms into a piece of furniture that is not only designed to be aesthetically pleasing, but also very functional as the ottoman and chair slide together to become one. The ottoman easily glides between the chair’s profile, allowing it to shift into a lounge chair. You can also remove the ottoman, put it next to the chair, and use it as a magazine rack.

He became a renowned designer when he designed the pop star, Christina Agularia’s home in 2003 which was purchased for $5 million and then put on the market in 2008 for somewhere around $8 million. Germ Free Bathroom Designs

September 16th, 2009

Turn on the television or open any magazine and you’ll see them, ads for all kinds of household products containing germ-killing ingredients. Hand soap, dishwashing liquid, toothpaste, toothbrushes and sponges are all being praised for their ability to kill germs. No where has the proliferation of antimicrobial products been more popular than in the bathroom, one of the biggest germ havens in the home. For those looking for even more germ protection, several bathroom product manufacturers like Laufen are adding antimicrobial properties to actual bathroom furnishings as well. The new mimo collection by Laufen features an antimicrobial shower curtain that is water, mildew and bacteria repellent. In fact, it can be washed at up to 140 degrees Fahrenheit! The innovative shower curtain, available in white or a pattern of interlaced loops in white and black and pink and white comes with their new bathtub/ shower combination.

The mimo shower curtain is not the only Laufen product that says farewell to germs. The vast majority of their products feature WonderGliss: a revolutionary finish that makes the surface of their products so smooth that dirt and grime no longer hold, and simply bead off. This means less cleaning! Furthermore, Wondergliss stands the test of time because it is not just merely applied, but fired into the product during ceramics production. The Research Institute of Inorganic Materials confirms the benefits of WonderGliss: “Good beading behavior, high chemical and thermal resistance, maintainability, and abrasion resistance; it’s the cleanest solution.”
